You don’t know:

there are birch trees that lift their roots at night, and you would never believe
that at night trees walk or become dreams. Imagine that in a tree there is a violin of love. Imagine that a tree sings and laughs. Imagine that a tree stands in a crevice and then comes to life. I’ve already told you: poets cannot be redeemed, they must be left to fly among the trees like nightingales ready to die.

THE TREE OF POEMS

A walk among the trees, a writing desk in the woods, a large oak tree. All around, the voices of nature.

This is the path that will lead you to the heart of the Oasis, to the tree of poems, where you can entrust your words for the planet.

The tree of poems is a young holm oak growing in a natural clearing in the heart of the Astroni crater. Together, we want to foster a love of nature and combat climate change, and we want to do so through your words: for every poem entrusted to its branches, we will plant a new tree or undertake another action to restore the habitats burned during the fires of 2017 and 2023.

And when the wind and rain dissolve your words, they will transform into flowers. The paper you will find in the writing desk contains poppy, violet, and chamomile seeds, which will support the lives of pollinators.

PARTICIPATE

Come to the Oasis

Walk along the path among the trees and let yourself be inspired by nature. Reach Gennarino's clearing and sit at the writing desk in the woods. Grab a pen and paper and write your words for the planet.

Use a piece of string to hang your words on the poetry tree, but be careful: make sure the knot is loose enough to avoid damaging the branches and leaves.

Submit your poem

Get a sheet of untreated, eco-friendly paper, write your words using a natural ink like graphite, charcoal, or coffee, and mail your poem to "Riserva Naturale Oasi WWF Cratere degli Astroni, Via Agnano agli Astroni 468, 80125 Naples." We'll hang it on the poetry tree, but only if it's written using

eco-friendly and sustainable materials.

Participate on social media

Write a post on Facebook or Instagram with your poem, and publish it on your favorite social media or on the Tree of Poems project's social media channels.

Remember to follow and tag our official pages (you can use the direct links at the bottom of this page) and use the hashtags #alberodellepoesie and #parolecontroilcambiamentoclimatico.

Are you a teacher or student? Get involved with your school!

Contact the Oasis office to participate in the project and agree on times and methods.

Invite oasis experts to your class; they'll tell you about forest life and show you the consequences of a forest fire on the environment and human health.

Come visit the Astroni Crater with our nature guides: they'll accompany you into the heart of the ancient forest, where you can immerse yourself in nature and draw inspiration from it.

Give voice to your emotions: write your words on the plantable paper you'll receive at the Oasis and hang them on the poetry tree. Over time, they will sprout and become precious wildflowers.

For every poem you leave, the Oasis will plant a tree in the areas affected by the fire or activate other environmental restoration actions.

FOR MORE INFORMATION

How the Tree of Poems was born

Woods and forests are not simply collections of trees but true communities of species that cooperate to ensure the life cycles of nature, regulate the climate, and sustain biodiversity.

These tree communities are our best ally against climate change, but to survive, they need our commitment and a little help.

The Tree of Poems was born here: from our love for trees and our commitment to protecting them.

The paper that sprouts

The paper we use is made by REDACIA using ecological and sustainable methods, and the seeds it contains are a special blend of poppy, sweet violet, and chamomile, three species that grow wild within the Oasis. What you will use are not just sheets of paper, but seeds of beauty and hope that, over time, will sprout and transform into flowers, plants, and aromatic herbs.

A poetic gesture that pays homage to nature without leaving a trace, because the only sign we want to leave is that of life growing.
